หลักการและเหตุผล 

       การบำรุงรักษาเชิงป้องกัน (Preventive Maintenance) ถือเป็นการทำงานเบื้องต้นของการทำการบำรุงรักษาเครื่องจักร ซึ่งแต่ละโรงงานจะมีรูปแบบการทำงานและสภาวะแวดล้อมในการใช้เครื่องจักรที่แตกต่างกัน ทำให้การชำรุดเสียหายและประสิทธิภาพของเครื่องจักรอาจแตกต่างไปจากที่กำหนดตามมาตรฐานของเครื่องจักร ดังนั้นฝ่ายบำรุงรักษาของแต่ละโรงงานควรต้องมีระบบหรือแผนการป้องกันเครื่องจักรเหล่านั้นเพื่อลดการหยุดการทำงานโดยไม่ได้คาดหมายไว้ (Unplanned downtime) ด้วยกำหนดระยะเวลาการบำรุงรักษาเครื่องจักรตามระยะเวลาที่กำหนดขึ้นจากข้อมูลที่บันทึกได้ (Based on data insights) ซึ่งการบำรุงรักษาเชิงป้องกันสามารถกำหนดได้หลายรูปแบบและต้องมีการปรับปรุง ระบบอยู่ตลอดเวลาเพื่อให้เวลาการปฏิบัติงานของเครื่องจักรไม่ลดลง จนส่งผลกระทบต่อกระบวนการผลิตหรือไม่สามารถผลิตและส่งมอบสินค้าได้ทันเวลาตามที่ลูกค้ากำหนด ตลอดจนต้องมีการพัฒนาแผนงานเพื่อสามารถทำการพยากรณ์เพื่อลดความน่าจะเป็นที่จะเกิดปัญหาหรือความล้มเหลวของเครื่องจักรได้อีกด้วย

        การบำรุงรักษาเชิงพยากรณ์ (Predictive maintenance) คือกิจกรรมพื้นฐานของข้อมูลการปฏิบัติงานของเครื่องจักรที่จดบันทึก โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อป้องกันปัญหาในการบำรุงรักษาโดยการพยากรณ์ความน่าจะเป็นในการเกิดความล้มเหลวหรือความเสียหายของเครื่องจักรที่จะเกิดขึ้นได้อย่างแม่นยำ และยังสามารถคาดการณ์ระยะเวลาที่เหลือของการใช้เครื่องจักรได้ด้วยการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลที่บันทึกได้ เพื่อสามารถบริหารจัดการทรัพยากรของการบำรุงรักษาได้อย่างเหมาะสมที่สุด

        การบำรุงรักษาเชิงพยากรณ์เป็นกลยุทธ์ของการบำรุงรักษาเครื่องจักรด้วยการวิเคราะห์รูปแบบของความเสียหายของเครื่องจักรเพื่อวางแผนป้องกันหรือหลีกเลี่ยงการหยุดของเครื่องจักรก่อนเหตุการณ์นั้นที่จะเกิดขึ้น เพื่อลดต้นทุนการบำรุงรักษาแลลดระยะเวลาการซ่อมบำรุงเครื่องจักร รวมถึงการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพของการใช้ทรัพยากรการผลิตทั้งหมดได้อย่างต่อเนื่อง  

วัตถุประสงค์

1. ลดความสูญเสียของเวลาการหยุดเครื่องจักรในการบำรุงรักษาเครื่องจักรทั้งตามแผนหรือนอกแผนซ่อมบำรุงตามระยะเวลาที่กำหนด

2. ยืดอายุการทำงานของเครื่องจักรให้ยาวนานขึ้นได้

3. สร้างรูปแบบ (Model) ของเงื่อนไขการเกิดข้อบกพร่องของเครื่องจักรได้อย่างแม่นยำ

4. เพื่อเพิ่มผลผลิต ลดต้นทุนการผลิต ลดของเสีย ลดต้นทุนการบำรุงรักษาเครื่องจักร ลดอุบัติเหตุที่เกิดขึ้นในกระบวนการผลิต ลดระยะเวลาการผลิต เพิ่มศักยภาพในการดำเนินงานผลิต และเพิ่มความพึงพอใจให้กับลูกค้าได้มากขึ้น

5. เพื่อลดความสูญเปล่าในกระบวนการผลิต โดยสามารถผลิตและส่งมอบสินค้าให้กับลูกค้าได้อย่างมีคุณภาพและทันตามที่ลูกค้าต้องการอย่างต่อเนื่อง

6. สร้างคุณค่า (Values) ในกระบวนผลิตและการบำรุงรักษาเครื่องจักร รวมถึงการบริการจัดการอื่น ๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้อง เช่น การวางแผนการผลิต การตรวจสอบ การควบคุมและติดตามได้มากขึ้น

7. เพื่อเป็นแนวทางสำหรับผู้บริหารในทุกระดับในการวางแผนติดตามโครงการต่าง ๆ ได้อย่างละเอียด ครบถ้วน สมบูรณ์ และสามารถพัฒนาได้อย่างต่อเนื่องไม่มีวันสิ้นสุด
